North Mesa Stables, Arenas & Rodeo Grounds
The North Mesa Stables, arena, and rodeo grounds in Los Alamos, New Mexico, are public park facilities dedicated to equestrian activities, offering amenities like trail riding, dressage, and both Western and English riding. Situated on county-owned land, the stables are licensed annually to residents, who own the improvements on their individual lots.
The North Mesa Stables land in Los Alamos was initially designated for equestrian use by the U.S. Department of the Interior and later transferred to Los Alamos County in 1972 via a quitclaim deed from the Atomic Energy Commission. The transfer included a stipulation that the land must remain dedicated to equestrian purposes. Any changes to the area require approval from both Los Alamos County and the Department of the Interior to ensure its intended use is maintained. More information on the quitclaim deed can be found under Stable Documents.
