North Community and North Mesa Pavement Preservation

The Los Alamos County Public Works Department announces that a Pavement Preservation Project will begin on Monday, September 29, 2025, on North Mesa & North Community. The work, which will be performed by Albuquerque Asphalt, includes road closures, lane restrictions, and detours for several streets. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. (weather permitting).
North Community (Sept. 29-Oct. 13)
The project area includes 35th Street, 36th Street, 37th Street, and 39th Street will be closed with local access only. 38th Street should be used as a detour throughout the duration of the project (see maps below). No on-street parking from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sept. 29 & 30: 39th Street
Oct. 01 & 02: 37th Street
Oct. 03 & 06: 36th Street
Oct. 07 & 08: 35th Street
Milling and Paving (dates and streets):
Oct. 08: 35th & 36th Streets
Oct. 09: 36th & 37th Streets
Oct. 10: 37th & 39th Streets
Oct. 13: 39th Street
North Mesa: San IIdefonso & Stoneview Drive (Sept. 29-Oct. 1)
The project area includes milling and paving of San Ildefonso Rd. from the intersection of North Mesa Rd east to end of San Ildefonso Rd. including Stoneview Dr. Alternating lane closures will occur on San Ildefonso Rd. with street closures occurring on Stoneview Dr. No on-street parking from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Milling and Paving (dates and streets):
Sept. 29-Oct. 01: San Ildefonso Road (intersection of North Mesa Rd east to end of San Ildefonso Rd.) and including Stoneview Drive
North Mesa: North Mesa Road (Oct. 09-15)
The project area includes North Mesa Rd, Hawks Subdivision & Mendius Lane. Alternating lane closures will occur on North Mesa Rd. Hawks Subdivision and Mendius Lane will be closed with local access only (see maps below). No on-street parking from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Milling and Paving (dates and streets):
Oct. 02, 03 & 06: North Mesa Road
Oct. 07: Mendius Lane
Oct. 14 & 15: Deer Trail, Deer Court & Terry Lane
Pulverizing (dates and streets):
Oct. 09 & 10: Deer Trail & Deer Court
Oct. 13 & 14: Dear Court & Terry Lane
What to expect:
Residents can expect large construction equipment, elevated noise levels, and no street parking during working hours. The contractor will coordinate directly with residents and businesses to minimize disruption. Mail delivery, trash and recycling services, school bus routes, public transit, and emergency vehicle access will not be interrupted.
This maintenance is essential to preserving road quality and extending pavement life in the neighborhood. The County appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation during this temporary inconvenience.
