Accessibility for Atomic City Transit

Atomic City Transit is accessible to persons with disabilities. Buses are equipped with lifts or ramps that enable persons in wheelchairs or persons who cannot step onto the bus to ride, have priority seating for persons with disabilities, and use automated announcements for stops and destinations. Our buses “kneel” to help passengers board. Operators are trained to assist riders use lifts and ramps, secure wheelchairs, provide information on destinations served, and announce any stop you request.

ACT Assist

ACT Assist is a service for persons whose disability prevents them using riding Atomic City Transit. The service operates the same days and hours within ¾ of a mile of our routes. Other Accessibility Features

You may travel with your respirator, concentrator, and portable oxygen. Service animals are welcome on board buses and vans and in our facilities. They must be kept under the control of the passenger at all times. Public information is available in alternative accessible formats upon request. Reasonable Modification

Reasonable Modification Procedures

  • Passengers can request reasonable modifications for all modes (fixed route, general public demand response, and ADA paratransit). Passengers making requests are not required to use the term “reasonable modification.”
  • Passengers with disabilities may request modifications to current service procedures to access the service. To make a request, please call us at (505) 661-7433 or email us at AtomicCityTransit@lacnm.us. Please submit requests at least the day before the trip.
  • Requests should be made at least the day before, but flexibility will be provided for on the spot requests as circumstances allow. For on-the-spot requests, the driver will contact dispatch and the dispatch will contact the Transit Manager or designee. The Transit Manager or designee will review all requests and provide the determination.
  • Documentation will be maintained regarding the request and the resulting action taken.

Atomic City Transit will not charge additional fees for passengers requiring reasonable modifications.
