Per Los Alamos County Ordinance 38-755, there is a limit of 14 calendar days in any consecutive 30-day calendar period for camping in Los Alamos.
Penalty for unlawful camping or camping without a permit can result in a fine of "not less than $25.00 no more than $500.00 for each offense, per LAC Ordinance 38-754.

Reservations for Camp May can only be made in person at the Aquatic Center during normal business hours.
Located near the Pajarito Ski Mountain area, Camp May offers picnic areas and an amphitheater. Additional information about Camp May can be found in this brochure(PDF, 2MB). It is located approximately 6 miles west (20-minute drive) of the Los Alamos town site. Camp May is closed and the road is blocked from November – March. Permits are available April – October, Electricity is not available at this Pavilion. This facility requires special approval by the Parks, Recreation and Open Space Staff.
