Housing Development

Los Alamos County Strategic Goal for Housing is "Increasing the amount and types of housing options. This includes a variety of housing options for all segments of the community, from affordable, entry-level, and live-work housing to new options for those interested in downsizing or moving closer to central areas of the community." With that in mind the Economic Development Division is working with developers on the following projects and initiatives currently underway.

Housing Projects

Bluffs Senior Apartments

The Bluffs on DP Road in Los Alamos is a multi-family affordable housing project with 64 units for seniors.

The Hill Apartments

New apartment complex being constructed with 149 units located at 141 35th Street off Trinity Drive in Los Alamos.

Mirador Mixed-Use Development

When completed, the development will consist of a 57-unit residential multi-family housing development along with attached commercial space on 2.24± acres of land.

Homes at North Community

create 44 single-family town home lots from Lots K and L of the North Community 1 Subdivision, containing ±4.5 acres and located at 3901 and 4015 Arkansas Avenue.

Ponderosa Estates Phase 3 Subdivision

Develop 49-residential lots. The vacant property, Ponderosa Estates Lot CTC A, addressed as 285 MAPLE DR, is zoned Planned-Development 2.0 (PD-2).

North Mesa Housing

Develop workforce housing on a 30-acre +/- tract of land on the North Mesa, between the Los Alamos Middle School, the North Mesa Sports Complex, North Mesa Road and San Ildefonso Rd. The land is currently owned by the Los Alamos Public School district. The overall goal is to generate a preferred concept plan for housing that can be carried forward into design and development.

Arbolada on North Mesa

Construct 85 homes in Arbolada subdivision on North Mesa.

Canada Bonita Apartments

Construction of 160 unit apartment complex
