These closures are necessary to ensure the safe execution of demolition and rebuilding activities.
Piñon Park Play Lot:
Preparation Work Begins: October 2025
Construction to Begin Shortly After
Planned improvements include:
·      Demolition of existing playground equipment, concrete pavement, retaining walls, curbing, boulder retaining wall, elevated walkway, and ADA ramps.
·      Construction of new play equipment, mulch, site furnishings, and boulders.
·      Please note: Only the playground area at Piñon Park will be closed. The trails, pavilion, and skatepark will remain open and accessible throughout construction.
Piñon Park Play Lots are scheduled for renovation to improve accessibility in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and to align with priorities listed in the CSD Integrated Master Plan. These updates will improve safety, accessibility, and add new amenities for the community. This project supports the County Council’s strategic objectives of Infrastructure Asset Management and Inclusion, Access, and Belonging. By renovating these community play spaces, the County is investing in inclusive recreational infrastructure that benefits residents of all ages and abilities.
CSD appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as improvements are made to these recreational spaces. The completion of this project is scheduled for April 30, 2026, weather permitting.
During the playground renovation projects, CSD encourages the community to visit these other nearby playgrounds:
