Key topics added to January 14 Council work session agenda
Published on January 09, 2025
With the start of 2025, Los Alamos County Council Chair Theresa Cull and County Manager Anne Laurent are taking advantage of a light agenda at the January 14 County Council work session to begin early discussions on several significant topics that will require attention later in the year. Initially, the agenda included only a discussion and possible action on the fiscal year 2026 budget guidance. To maximize this meeting, Cull and Laurent added several key items to the agenda.
The expanded agenda now includes:
- Continuation of the discussion and possible action on the wildlife feeding ordinance.
- Discussion and possible action on Council engagement with small businesses.
- Discussion of potential future ordinances, such as banning single-use plastic bags, discouraging vacant or abandoned properties, and raising the minimum wage.
Cull and Laurent plan to jumpstart conversations on these issues to ensure ample time for public input and Council consideration throughout the year.
The full agenda will be published on Friday, Jan.10, and will be available on the Granicus website at losalamos.legistar.com. Individuals can find the agenda by filtering for “County Council – Work Session” and “2025.”
Residents are encouraged to participate in these discussions by providing public comment during the meeting or using the eComment tool included in the published agenda. Instructions for registering and using the eComment tool can be found at losalamosnm.us/Have-Your-Say/eComment-tool.
