County Welcomes Dr.Shanna Sasser as Economic Development Administrator

Los Alamos County is excited to introduce Dr. Shanna Sasser as the new Economic Development Administrator. Dr. Sasser brings a wealth of experience and a genuine passion for community advocacy to her new role, where she’ll be working to enhance the quality of life for everyone in Los Alamos County.
Before joining the county, Dr. Sasser served as the Rural and Frontier Ombudsman for the State of New Mexico. In that role, she was a key advocate for the state’s rural areas, building strong relationships with state, federal, and local partners. Some of her notable achievements include securing funding to address water crises, supporting local government projects, and promoting the installation of infant surrender boxes across New Mexico.
Dr. Sasser’s approach to economic development is all about collaboration and community engagement. She’s particularly passionate about improving healthcare access, workforce housing, infrastructure, and overall quality of life in Los Alamos.
“I’m honored to join the Los Alamos community and excited to work with residents, businesses, and local leaders to make life even better for everyone here,” Dr. Sasser said. “My goal is to build on the great things already happening in our community and create new opportunities for growth and development.”
Dr. Sasser’s educational background includes a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership and Administration from New Mexico State University, a Master’s in Higher Education Administration from the University of Hawaii, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies from the University of West Florida.
As she steps into her new role, Dr. Sasser is looking forward to making a positive impact and helping Los Alamos County continue to thrive.
