Chief Dino Sgambellone

Chief Dino Sgambellone became a Police Officer in Mansfield, Ohio in 1991 and rose to the rank of Chief. He became the Los Alamos Chief in 2013. While Chief, LAPD became accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA), and Los Alamos has had some of the lowest crime rates in its history. He has a Bachelor's & Master's Degree in Business and a Public Safety PhD.

We are CALEA certified. The purpose of this survey is to receive comments regarding our compliance with CALEA standards, engagement in the community, delivery of public safety services, and overall candidacy for accredited status. These comments can be in the form of commendations or concerns. The overall intent of the accreditation process is to provide us with information to support continuous improvement, as well as foster the pursuit of professional excellence.

The Mission of the Los Alamos County Police Department is to provide quality pro-active law enforcement services to our community that promote an atmosphere of safety and security for both our residents and visitors while protecting the rights and guarantees provided under the Constitution of the United States of America and the State of New Mexico.
