Preliminary assessment work continues for Community Broadband Network
Published on March 24, 2025
Crews from Kelly Cable continue to make progress assessing existing County-owned conduit in the North Community and Western Area neighborhoods as part of the Los Alamos County Community Broadband Network project. This preliminary phase of the assessment is now expected to conclude on April 2, earlier than initially anticipated. Crews are working Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents are encouraged to avoid parking in designated work zones.
Contracted by Bonfire LLC, Los Alamos County’s vendor, Kelly Cable is evaluating and surveying existing conduits in the roadway shoulders adjacent to sidewalks as part of the initial phase of the fiber-to-the-premises broadband network project.
What residents need to know
While impacts to residents are expected to be minimal, County officials request that residents help facilitate the work by following these guidelines when crews are present:
- Park vehicles in driveways whenever possible.
- If parking on the street, park on the opposite side from where crews are working.
