Los Alamos Golf Course Spring Update and Opening Schedule
Published on March 10, 2026
It has been yet another warm winter, and Los Alamos County staff have been working diligently to maintain the course. The Golf Course Improvement Project management team, Icon Golf Studio, and Mid-America met last week to discuss the status of the course and a timeline for warranty work to be completed this spring, as mentioned in the September Golf Course Update.
Mid-America is scheduled to be on site at the Los Alamos County Golf Course to begin warranty work on March 23, 2026, which is anticipated to last 5 weeks. Work will begin on the back nine, with the front nine open to the public, and will then switch as the work on the back nine is completed.
The scope of the warranty work includes drainage correction on ten tees (holes 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 16, and 17), five greens (holes 11, 12, 15, 16, and 18), drainage repair behind the concrete driving range pad, and replacement of trees.
To accommodate our golfing community and complete the warranty work, the Los Alamos County Golf Course will have the schedule as follows, beginning March 12th:
- March 12th: The Practice Range & Putting Green will open.
- April 1st: The front nine and new Short Game Practice area are scheduled to open at 3:00 p.m. The days and hours of play will start on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. through Sunday.
Beginning March 12th, the practice range and main putting green will be open 7 days a week. These areas are available to golfers for practice. Range balls are available Monday through Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The practice range closes at 4:30 p.m. on Sundays to prep the range for mowing on Mondays.
Repaired greens and tees will remain closed, with temporary tees, after the repair work is completed to allow for turf grow-in. Additionally, golf course staff recommends a few days of course rest in between open days to allow the specialized maintenance work required to continue, and additional turf grow-in.
It is expected that play availability will expand moving into early summer, based on warranty work progression, course conditions, and project team evaluations. We appreciate the community's support and patience as we complete the warranty work at the golf course. Additional updates will be provided as the warranty work progresses or if there is a change in the schedule.

As a reminder, the lease for the proposed restaurant at the Golf Course, 19th Hole Sports Pub, LLC, will be considered during a public hearing at the March 31, 2026, County Council meeting.
