Building Safety Division Earns IAS Reaccreditation

Los Alamos County proudly announces its Building Safety Division has successfully passed the International Accreditation Service (IAS) reaccreditation, reaffirming its status as the only IAS-accredited jurisdiction in the state of New Mexico. This achievement underscores the division’s unwavering commitment to excellence, safety, and customer service in the building industry.
During the recent onsite audit, the division passed with no corrective actions required—an exceptional accomplishment. The only recommendation from the auditors was to implement an annual meeting, which the division is already taking steps to address.

In 2024, the Building Safety Division demonstrated exceptional efficiency:
- Total Residential Building Permits Issued: 737 (Average turnaround time: 1 day)
- Total Commercial Building Permits Issued: 88 (Average turnaround time: 3 days)
