Los Alamos County is pleased to announce a new partnership with DestinationiQ, a nationally recognized tourism consulting firm specializing in destination management and marketing. The collaboration marks a major step in strengthening the County’s tourism economy, advancing marketing strategies, and enhancing transparency and alignment across all tourism programs.
Following a competitive process that attracted 14 applicants, the County conducted a vigorous review through an evaluation committee. DestinationiQ was selected for their proven track record in tourism development, marketing innovation, and community engagement throughout the Mountain West region.
Under this partnership, DestinationiQ will lead several key initiatives, including:
- Developing an Interim Marketing Plan to guide immediate tourism priorities and campaigns.
- Conducting a Marketing Assessment and Tourism Data Plan to better understand Los Alamos’s audiences and performance.
- Creating a Comprehensive Annual Marketing Plan that reflects the community’s long-term tourism vision and goals.
- Providing ongoing creative design, advertising management, and performance reporting to ensure that marketing investments are data-driven and effective.
“DestinationiQ brings extensive experience in helping destinations thrive through comprehensive tourism management and data-driven marketing that thoughtfully balance visitor growth with community priorities. In their first year, they will visit Los Alamos County for an immersion trip to meet with local stakeholders and residents interested in tourism,” says Ellyn Felton, Marketing Specialist, Los Alamos County Community Development Department. “This relationship will help identify new opportunities and perspectives that support a sustainable and vibrant visitor economy. We’re excited to partner with DestinationiQ and welcome their fresh, outside perspective on our community.”
The DestinationiQ team, which brings 30 years of tourism, marketing, and communications expertise, will begin work immediately and will join the upcoming Lodgers’ Tax Advisory Board meeting virtually on November 18 at 12 p.m. in Council Chambers, 1000 Central Avenue. Community members and stakeholders are encouraged to attend to learn more about the agency and upcoming tourism initiatives.
