Fault causes Quemazon outage
Published on August 13, 2025
An underground fault caused a power outage in the Quemazon neighborhood this morning. The issue appears to have begun around 5 a.m., with some properties losing power as late as 7 a.m.
About 320 customers are without electricity while line crews from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) work to restore power. Full restoration is expected to be complete by around 9 a.m.
DPU can be reached at (505) 662-8333 during business hours, by email at CustomerCare@lacnm.us, or in person during business hours (M-F, 8-5) at the Los Alamos County Municipal Building. Urgent issues outside of business hours should be directed to (505) 662-8222. For general input on any utility topic, community members may submit an online form at ladpu.com/feedback.
