The Los Alamos Public Works Department, in coordination with local Adopt-A-Road participants, will host a community cleanup event on Saturday, May 3, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 noon. Volunteers will be working across various areas in the townsite to remove litter and debris, helping keep our community safe, clean, and beautiful.
As part of the event, Sancre Productions will be on site capturing drone footage for a safety video to be produced with grant funding from New Mexico Clean and Beautiful. The video will highlight best practices and promote future participation in the Adopt-A-Road program.
Cleanup participants will be wearing high-visibility yellow vests, and motorists are strongly urged to slow down, remain alert, and use extra caution while traveling through cleanup zones. Temporary signage will be posted in key areas to remind drivers to reduce speed and share the road with cleanup crews.
Safety Reminders for the Public:
- Please avoid distractions while driving, especially in areas where volunteers are working.
- Parents are encouraged to keep children and pets away from active cleanup sites.
- Cleanup activities will wrap up by noon, but drivers should remain cautious throughout the day as crews may still be clearing or transporting collected materials.
This community effort reflects the dedication of local volunteers and partners to maintaining a cleaner and safer environment for all residents. The County thanks all participants and encourages residents to consider joining future Adopt-A-Road events.
