White Rock Branch Library to host Smartphone Photography 101 workshop
Published on February 20, 2026
The Los Alamos Public Library will host a Smartphone Photography 101 workshop Thursday, Feb. 26, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the White Rock Branch Library multipurpose room.
The workshop will be led by Los Alamos County Assistant Public Information Officer Leslie Bucklin. “The best camera you have is always the one with you. For most people, that is their smartphone,” Bucklin said.
The class will cover basic techniques for turning everyday snapshots into frame-worthy photographs. Participants will learn how to use their smartphone cameras effectively and explore features that can improve photo quality.
The workshop is free and open to adults and teens. All smartphone models are welcome, and instruction will focus on beginner to intermediate skill levels. Space is limited to 15 participants, and advance registration is recommended.
This program is the first in a new monthly series called Discover!, designed to give community members hands-on introductions to a variety of topics. Upcoming sessions will include introductions to Dungeons & Dragons, AI prompting, crafts, card games, and repair clinics.
“We wanted to create something engaging and interactive, allowing adult library users to discover and explore new skills and topics together,” said Senior Librarian Eva Jacobson. “We increasingly hear from community members that they want library programs that are participatory and community-building.”
