The Los Alamos Public Library will kick off its 2025 Summer Reading Program with a day of circus fun on Monday, June 2 featuring Santa Fe-based performance troupe Wise Fool. This free celebration for all ages includes hands-on workshops and an evening performance at Ashley Pond.

Workshops will take place from 2:00 to 5:30 p.m. in and around Mesa Public Library, with both indoor and outdoor sessions including puppet-making, stilt walking, and a Circus Try-It-Out Zone. From 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. ambient circus performers will entertain guests between the Library and Ashley Pond to build excitement for the evening show.

At 6 p.m. Wise Fool will take the stage at Ashley Pond with a dynamic performance featuring aerialists, jugglers, contortionists and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring a picnic, chairs, and the whole family to enjoy this return engagement—the troupe's first in Los Alamos in a decade.

"Wise Fool brings so much energy and creativity, and we’re thrilled to welcome them back to help us launch this year’s summer reading program," said Youth Librarian, Melissa Mackey.

The theme for the 2025 Summer Reading Program is Level Up, with reading challenges and activities for all ages. Summer reading programs and activities run from June 2 through July 26.  Participants can track their reading progress, explore curated reading lists, and earn prizes throughout the summer using the Beanstack reading platform.
