Los Alamos County has once again been recognized for its steadfast commitment to sound fiscal stewardship and ethical public service with the prestigious Audit & Accountability Award for Fiscal Year 2024. This award, jointly presented by the New Mexico Counties (NMC) and the Office of the State Auditor, honors counties that consistently demonstrate exceptional fiscal responsibility, timely financial reporting, and high audit performance. This marks the eighth time in the last ten years that Los Alamos County has received this honor—a reflection of its longstanding dedication to strong internal controls, transparency, and accountability in managing public funds.

In addition, Los Alamos County was recognized with the Continued Excellence Award, granted to counties that achieve three consecutive years of clean audits with no findings—a rare distinction that underscores the County’s consistent focus on process improvement and financial best practices.

The award was formally presented by State Auditor Joseph Maestas during the 2026 NMC Legislative Conference, on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at the closing session luncheon.

"We are honored to receive this recognition once again," said Administrative Services Director Helen Perraglio. “This achievement reflects the commitment of our County leadership, Finance team, and internal departments working together to ensure we meet the highest standards of fiscal integrity and public trust.”

Los Alamos County joins an elite group of awardees this year, including San Juan, Lea, Chaves, and Sandoval counties.
