"Home Grown Country Dreams" Take Center Stage at 2025 Fair and Rodeo

Saddle up and mark your calendars! The Los Alamos County Fair & Rodeo returns the weekend of August 1–3, 2025, with the theme: “Home Grown Country Dreams.” This community event celebrates our town’s agricultural heritage, local talent, and the hardworking farmers who make it all possible.
The fair's focus on “Home Grown Country Dreams” couldn’t be more fitting, as we welcome the Los Alamos Farmers Market to the! This vibrant market showcases the best of local produce, handcrafted goods, and artisanal creations from Northern New Mexico — perfect for supporting our local growers and artisans.
Volunteers Needed: Parade Portion
Los Alamos County Recreation Division is seeking Adult Volunteers for the Parade portion of this event. Volunteers will be assigned a location where roadblocks are established to help ensure vehicles do not enter the parade route area.
The Parade will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, starting at 10 am.
Volunteer check-in is at 9:30 am at the Old Smiths Parking Lot.

Parade Grand Marshal: Cindy Talamantes
We’re also proud to announce that Cindy Talamantes, a key figure in the local farming community, will serve as the 2025 Parade Grand Marshal. As the manager of the Los Alamos Farmers Market since 2005, Cindy has worked tirelessly to support local agriculture, bringing fresh produce and handmade goods to the community. Her decades of dedication makes her the perfect representative for this year’s theme.

- County Fair Exhibits: 2:00–8:00 PM at Mesa Public Library
- Summer Concert Series featuring Brandon Saiz: 6:00–9:00 PM at Ashley Pond Park
Saturday, August 2
- County Fair Parade: 10:00 AM on Central Ave.

- Festival & Fair: 9:00 AM–3:00 PM at Ashley Pond Park
- Discover local food and crafts at the Farmers Market!
- Pie Baking Contest: 11:00 AM entry / Noon judging at Ashley Pond Park
- County Rodeo & Watermelon Eating Contest: 2:00–5:00 PM at Brewer Arena
- Cowboy Dinner & Dance: 5:00–7:00 PM (Dinner), 7:00–9:00 PM (Dance) at the Los Alamos Sheriff's Posse Lodge
Sunday, August 3
- Stroll the Stables: 9:00 AM–Noon at North Mesa Stables
- Meet farm animals and enjoy a piece of rural life!
- Day 2 of the Rodeo: Tough Enough to Wear Pink: 1:00–5:00 PM at Brewer Arena
Fair Exhibits – Show Your Talent!
Whether you're a budding artist or a seasoned home cook, the Los Alamos County Fair invites residents of all ages to showcase their skills in categories like:
- Clothing, Knitting, Needlework, Quilting
- Baked Goods & Preserved Foods
- Fine Arts & Photography
- Horticulture & 4-H Projects

- Perishable Entries (Baked Goods, Horticulture): July 30 at Mesa Public Library

Vendor Information: All Vendors are Welcome!
Vendors wishing to participate must complete and submit their permits to the Recreation Division by July 30. Early coordination with the Community Development Division is required.

Rodeo Admission Prices
While many of the event activities are free, rodeo events do require admission:
- Ages 2 & under: Free
- Youth (3–17) & Seniors (60+): $5
- Adults (18–59): $10
- Family of 4: $25
- Cash and Credit Cards accepted
