Historic Preservation Advisory Board accepting applications

Los Alamos County invites residents to submit applications to fill one open positions on the Historic Preservation Advisory Board (HPAB). This is an exceptional opportunity for Los Alamos County residents who have demonstratable interest, competence, or knowledge in the historical, architectural, and cultural traditions specific to Los Alamos County to get involved and affect change.
Application Process:
Interested Los Alamos County residents must complete an online application on the Boards & Commissions web page. Select the yellow “Apply” button midway through the page, complete the form, and select “Submit”. Interviews with qualified candidates will be scheduled with county officials. Los Alamos County Council will make the final selection and appoint board members to fill the vacant position.
Responsibilities of Board Members:
Acting in an advisory capacity to the Planning and Zoning Commission and County Council, the HPAB members make informed recommendations regarding the protection, preservation and enhancement of places, sites, areas, buildings, structures and other significant objects within the corporate boundaries of the Incorporated County having a special character or special historic, architectural or cultural interest or value. The members also initiate and conduct research and investigations into local historical or cultural assets. Additional information on the Role of Boards and Commissions is available online.
HPAB Meeting Schedule and Location:
The HPAB meets at 5:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of every month in the Municipal Building Boards and Commissions Room #110, 1000 Central Ave., Los Alamos.
Term and Commitment:
HPAB members serve staggered three-years terms and may serve up to two consecutive terms.
