The Los Alamos County Parks and Open Space Division is excited to announce the upcoming construction of new pavilions at Ashley Pond aimed to enhance community engagement and outdoor experiences for residents and visitors alike. The project is set to begin on Monday, November 4, and is expected to be completed by November 22, 2024.

The project will start with the removal of two existing slabs, followed by site preparation for the new ones. Once the new slabs are in place, the pavilion building process will commence. These new pavilions will offer versatile spaces for a variety of activities, including family gatherings, community events, and recreational programs. Each pavilion will be designed to harmonize with the park’s natural beauty, providing covered areas with seating, scenic views, and ADA accessibility.

“We are committed to improving our public spaces and fostering a sense of community,” said Wendy Parker, Parks Superintendent. “These pavilions will not only beautify Ashley Pond but also serve as gathering spots where families and friends can create lasting memories.” Construction will be conducted by Sand Digging It and Franco’s Builders LLC, with a focus on sustainability and eco-friendly materials. The project is funded by Los Alamos County, emphasizing our dedication to investing in community infrastructure.

Visitors to Ashley Pond are encouraged to be mindful of the construction site and keep a safe distance. A few parking spaces will be repurposed as material holding locations, and the area will be coned off and clearly marked/ defined during the construction phase.
