We all know that water is a precious, essential resource, but do you know all about its journey to your faucets? There is so much to learn on this tour! You'll start at the Water Production Division office at the Pajarito Cliffs Site where you'll visit the water system control room for an overview of SCADA and see remote monitoring of a very large system in real time. Next, you'll travel to the Guaje Well Field in Rendija Canyon where you'll step inside a well house and its neighboring booster station to learn how we get water from the earth and then move it to water tanks all over Los Alamos County. Los Alamos County will provide transportation for all participants.

This tour is a fountain of knowledge!

  • What is SCADA?
  • How many people does it take to ensure 20,000 community members have clean drinking water?
  • Where does our local water come from? And how does it get to our homes?
  • How deep are our wells?
  • How much water do Los Alamos County's tanks hold?
