Project Purpose and Scope:

The purpose of this project is to design, develop construction documents, and provide construction administration services for the renovation of San Ildefonso and Grand Canyon Playgrounds. The overall renovations will include ADA/Safety improvements, new play structures, shade, and supporting amenities, with a focus on unstructured play, accessibility, and community engagement.

San Ildefonso Playlot: The focus will be on accessibility and inclusion. Some anticipated features include shade, play structures and supporting amenities. The park design should address neighborhood pedestrian connections.

Grand Canyon Park: The focus will be on shade, play structures and supporting amenities with good trail and neighborhood connections. This playground renovation includes a proposed site change.

These playgrounds were noted as short term action items in the 2023 CSD Integrated Master Plan and the 2023 American with Disabilities Audit and Transition Plan. This project is currently in its early stages, and we are just initiating the design phase. The construction phase will take place at a later date. Once the timeline for construction is finalized, the public will be notified of the planned start and completion dates.
