Los Alamos County strives to improve and enhance our community's living and work environments through its economic development and comprehensive planning strategies. This list of economic development projects represents some of the activities and programs currently being managed or supported by the Community Development Department's Economic Development Division. These projects are a work of collaboration, including the participation and input of many; too many to list here. LAND DISPOSITION [link]

  • 110 Entrada – Purchase, Sale, and Development Agreement negotiations underway.

  • 3661 and 3689 Trinity (formerly Pet Pangaea) - Solicitation TBD.

CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS

  • Deacon Street Improvements - on hold.
  • Pajarito Mountain Water Service/Fire Suppression -Fund Raising Ongoing.
  • White Rock Visitors Center Restrooms and Food Truck Pad (PW).
    • Phase I - Restrooms and Shelter - out for bid.
    • Phase II - Food Truck Pad -3Q24 (budget pending).

HOUSING PIPELINE

  • The Bluffs on DP Road (64 multi-family affordable affordable units for seniors): under construction; estimated completion end of 2023.
  • The Hill on 36th Street (144 multi-family units): under construction; estimated completion; end of 2023.
  • Arkansas Place, on Arkansas Avenue in North Community (44 townhome for-sale units): under construction; sales begin fall 2023.
  • Mirador Single-Family south of NM4 in White Rock (161 single-family units): under construction; 86 units completed.
  • Mirador Multi-Use south of NM4 in White Rock (57 multi-family units): Status: on hold by developer, estimated completion tbd.
  • Cañada Bonita on Canyon Road (150 apartments): awaiting site plan approval.
  • Arbolada on North Mesa (85 homes): Approved and awaiting permit application.
  • North Mesa Housing Project, north of San Ildefonso Street: more information can be found here [link].
  • Mari Mac Center on Trinity Drive (322 multi-family units): Approved and awaiting permit application.

PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT

  • White Rock Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (MRA) Plan: Completed 10/2022 [link].
  • North Mesa Housing Feasibility Study and Project: Under consideration by Los Alamos Public Schools and Los Alamos County.
  • Short Term Rental Policy, Regulation, and Management [link].

REGIONAL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COLLABORATION

  • Regional Transit Summit: Underway.
  • Regional Housing Summit: TBD.
  • Regional Workforce Development Program via Communities of Excellence Program: Kick-Off 10/2023.
  • Regional Economic Development Implementation Plan Update: Document under development by North Central New Mexico Economic Development District on behalf of the Regional Development Corporation.
