Reserve Online

The Recreation Division offers youth, teen, and adult programs at the Golf Course, Ice Rink, Aquatic Center and other facilities throughout Los Alamos County. Special events are held throughout the summer at various locations. We also coordinate various contract instructor programs such as dance, volleyball, basketball, exercise and fitness, martial arts, softball, swimming and running.

Graduating seniors and a friend are invited to this annual celebration. The night begins with a BBQ at Fuller Lodge on Saturday evening, and ends with pancake breakfast at the Betty Ehart Senior Center.

Swimmers, runners, beginning multi-sport athletes, seasoned triathletes, or anyone interested con participate in this group training event! There is no course support, so participants assume all risk and responsibility. Please exercise good judgment, watch out for cars at all times, and have FUN!

Registration begins at 6:30pm and closes at 6:55pm. First swimmer is sent off at 7:00pm.

Event is limited to the first 75 participants. Participants under the age of 18 must come prepared with a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

2023 Rodeo Court Competition - June 3, 2023

We are tying something new this year - Queens Court is transitioning to a Royalty Rodeo Court!

Court candidate(s) must be between the ages of, Mrs. and Mr. (26+) Queen and King (17-25), 

Princess and Prince (14-16), Jr. Queen and King (10-13), Jr. Princess and Prince (6-9) years, as of September 1st. 2023. 

Entry forms must be completed and signed by the candidate and her parents, and must be submitted to the Los Alamos County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Administrative Offices by Wednesday, May 31, 2023 by 5:00pm. Applications can be returned to vie email to: [email protected] or direct drop off at the Los Alamos County Aquatic Center, located at 2760 Canyon Rd, Los Alamos, NM 87544; attention to Vera Jaramillo.

A candidate must furnish their own horse; however, the mount may be borrowed.

There is no resident or schools requirement.

If a tie should occur the break will be based on high score for the horsemanship portion of the contest. Decision of the judge(s) is final.

Contest Date: The contest will be held on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023.
The riding portion will begin at 9:00am at Brewer Arena (650 North Mesa Rd., Los Alamos, NM). The Personality portion of the competition will begin at 12:00pm at the Los Alamos County Golf Course (4290 Diamond Dr., Los Alamos, NM) in the conference room. (Time subject to change depending on the number of participants)

The contest will be judge accordingly: Horsemanship 20%, interview and personality 40%, and public speaking 40%.

High Mountain Mudfest Mud Volleyball Tournament (7/1/2023)

This year's High Mountain Mudfest Mud Volleyball Tournament will be held Saturday, July1!

Have a mud-slinging good time at our round-robin mud volleyball tournament! Adult co-ed competitive: 6 to 10 teams of 6 to 12 players. Each team must have 3 women & 3 men.

$130/team, Ages 18+

2023 Los Alamos Triathlon - July 22, 2023

LA Triathlon

LOS ALAMOS 49th ANNUAL TRIATHLON

Participate in one of the oldest, continuously running triathlons! This is a sprint triathlon with a unique format of bike, swim, and run; and is held at a starting elevation of 7,400 ft. The course is challenging with a rolling bike course that starts in town and takes you along an open course surrounded by forest and mountain vistas, returns to the Aquatic Center for a 400-meter swim, and ends with a slight uphill run.

fun introduction to the multi-sport world for children with an emphasis on fun and fitness, not competition. This is a continuous and un-timed event. Kickboards and life jackets are available and may be used.

Los Alamos Youth Film Intensive Rolling Premier

The Los Alamos Arts Council has teamed up with the Los Alamos Teen Center and PAC8 to introduce kids to the film industry and the cool things they can do with it. Students will show off their written, directed, and produced short films on the hour, every hour.

Pie Baking Contest

Each pie will be categorized in a class. Each class will have only one winning, first place pie. The 1st place pie from each class will be judged against each other and one pie will be selected as the Grand Champion.

  • Class 4 – Mixed fruit pie
  • Class 5 – Peach pie
