Los Alamos County Utility Assistance Program
The purpose of the UAP is to provide assistance to qualified low income residential customers of the Utility during the periods of October 1st through March 31st, or year-round for citizens over age 65 or account holders qualified through the Social Security Administration for Supplemental Security Income (SSI), or one-time assistance to account holders who demonstrate need due to unforeseen and unusual circumstances. Los Alamos County partners with Santa Fe Civic Housing Authority - Espanola Office for Section 8 assistance. Housing specialist, Christine Archuleta, is in Los Alamos every other Wednesday, please call 505-753-3897 or the Social Services Division at 505-662-8068 for more information. Legal Resources - for Seniors
The Legal Resources for the Elderly Program (LREP) is a free, statewide helpline for New Mexico residents age 55 and older. The program does not have any income restrictions. It is a joint project of the New Mexico state Bar Foundation and the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department.
