Water crews from the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) are progressing on the repairs to multiple water leaks on Los Pueblos Street on Barranca Mesa. The leaks began Monday afternoon and DPU’s crews have been on-site since then. Additionally, another water break was reported Tuesday afternoon on Rover Boulevard in White Rock.

Barranca Mesa residents, particularly those on the stretch of Los Pueblos from Chaco to the dead end, have been experiencing low-to-no water pressure for much of the time, and a full water outage for replacement of an underground pipe segment. No roads are closed for the work however drivers are asked to pass work zones cautiously. Repairs are expected to be complete this afternoon.

DPU is sending a couple water operations staff members to White Rock for the new leak while the remaining water crews continue work on the Los Pueblos leaks. Once the Los Pueblos situation is stable, more crews will head to the White Rock leak. Residents in the vicinity of Rover Boulevard between Aragon Avenue and Kimberly Lane are likely to experience reduced water pressure. There is no projected timeline for repairs on this leak yet.

The causes of the leaks haven’t been identified yet.

DPU has crews on standby 24/7. In the case of a utility emergency, call 505-662-8333 weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or call Police Dispatch at 505-662-8222 after hours.
