UPDATE PROVIDED NOVEMBER 11, 2025, AT 5 P.M

Los Alamos County officials continue to monitor the countywide Lumen internet and cellular outage affecting all of Los Alamos County, including White Rock.

As of this evening, Lumen reports that the exact point of failure has been identified. The damage, a cut fiber line, was caused by construction work north of Santa Fe. Emergency locates have been engaged to allow excavation, and splice crews have arrived on site. There is currently no estimated time for repairs or restoration of service.

Residents should continue to call 9-1-1 for emergency assistance. Calls are being routed through Santa Fe, where dispatchers are coordinating directly with Los Alamos Police, Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) to ensure the most appropriate emergency response and care.

Public Wi-Fi remains available at County facilities, including the Los Alamos County Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave.; Mesa Public Library, 2400 Central Ave.; and White Rock Fire Station 3, 129 N.M. 4. A previous release incorrectly listed the White Rock Senior Center and the White Rock Library Branch; the Wi-Fi signal there is not strong enough for public use. Additionally, free Los Alamos Discoveries Wi-Fi is available at Ashley Pond Park and Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Ave.

While County facilities are closed, public Wi-Fi should remain accessible from nearby parking areas. However, coverage may be limited, and individuals may need to position themselves closer to buildings to connect.

Those experiencing service interruptions are encouraged to contact their respective internet or cellular service providers, if possible, for assistance and additional information.

As more details become available, the County will provide updates on Los Alamos County’s emergency radio station at AM 1610 and through media releases.
