Delayed opening for non-essential county government Dec. 1

Los Alamos County Manager Steven Lynne has ordered a delayed opening at 10 a.m. for all non-essential County government employees for the morning of Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, due to hazardous weather conditions. Some County services and facilities may be impacted: 


  • Atomic City Transit fixed route service will begin at approximately 9 a.m. Friday morning. For specific route information, visit, or check the ACTracker
  • The Aquatic Center plans to open at 10 a.m. 
  • The Ice Rink will have a delayed opening depending on weather conditions. An update will be provided Friday morning, Dec. 1. 
  • The Golf Course Pro Shop will open at 10 a.m. The course will be closed for golf, but open for cross country skiing if enough snow. 
  • Residential and commercial trash will be collected as usual. Please ensure roll carts are out by 8 a.m. White Rock Overlook Convenience Center and the Eco Station will open at 10 a.m. 
  • Other County facilities will have a delayed start from their normal hours of operation. 

 County Traffic and Street crews will continue to clear the major roads and streets according to the FY23 Snow and Ice Control Plan


The County’s MyDrivesite allows individuals to view conditions of major roadways within Los Alamos County. Users should click the intersection image to activate the live feed on YouTube. Drivers are asked to slow down and be cautious of hazardous conditions if you are required to travel during the storm.
