++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
As a public utility, our ownership, leadership and stewardship is locally driven. We are governed by local residents serving on the Board of Public Utilities who provide guidance on the creation of proposed ordinances. Proposed ordinances are first heard by the BPU at public hearings. Interested citizens are encouraged to attend. If approved by the BPU, the proposed ordinance is introduced to County Council for their consideration and is scheduled for a Council public hearing. If approved at a County Council public hearing, the ordinance is then adopted into law. This 2-part process enhances maximum ratepayer and citizen involvement.
Proposed & Adopted Ordinances
Below are DPU's recent proposed and adopted ordinances and some of the historic ordinances, such as DPU's first ordinance relating to Green Power. The table below includes the dates the proposed ordinances were heard by the Board of Public Utilities and County Council. Note that not all proposed ordinances are ultimately adopted. Please contact us if you'd like information about past ordinances that are not listed here.
