Reader Recap: DPU's Project Page is your portal to active and completed infrastructure project details for natural gas, water, electric (including renewable energy) and wastewater services. Our utility infrastructure projects are different from county projects in that they are funded primarily through utility rates paid for each commodity and service. County projects are funded by taxes.
Did You Know? DPU's Performance Reports, issued quarterly, provide project CIP projects summaries, and track progress on each project via the included Gantt chart. (See links at right and below.)
Maintaining & Improving Infrastructure
Many Capital Improvement Program Projects (CIP Projects) are underway to improve, repair, and/or maintain our community's infrastructure and provide for failsafe operation of water, gas, electricity, and wastewater services. These projects are funded primarily through revenues generated from utilities rates. To keep rates as low as possible, the DPU persistently garners infrastrucure funds from additional, external sources including: state loans and grants, and federal grants such as the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act (ARRA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Schedules & Budget for DPU's CIP PRojects for FY 2013 - Gantt Chart
Many of the DPU's infrastructure projects have an energy efficiency and/or conservation component also. We continue to foster sustainable practices in accordance with ratepayer preferences expressed in our customer surveys of 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2011. To learn more about active or recently completed DPU projects select a project link below, or read the
one page CIP Summary message from James Alarid, Deputy Utility Manager for Engineering for the start of fiscal year 2013 (July 1, 2012). Also available is our full
Quarterly Performance Report (Q1 FY13) featuring half-page synopses of each DPU Capital Project. Or feel free to send a note to
