New to Public Transit?

Here are some definitions that may be helpful.

  • Transit Center: Located near Diamond & West Jemez intersection. This is the location where Atomic City Transit buses, Park and Ride buses, and KSL shuttles meet.
  • Route: Designated path bus travels.
  • Time Point: Approximate time when the bus will be passing a specific location.
  • Bus Stop: Buses will only stop at designated bus stops. Look for Bus Stop signs, which are currently mounted to poles or temporary bases along the right side of the road as the bus travels.

Service Days & Hours

Service operates from approximately 6:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday - Friday except for the following holidays:

  • New Years Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday
  • Presidents Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Independence Day (Event Service Only)
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans Day

  • Christmas

Dial-a-Ride

Dial a ride service is available to those who have a documented disability or who are ages 60 and over. It is a "curb-to-curb" service that operates from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please call 661-RIDE between 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. up to three days in advance to reserve a ride. The General Public may also use Dial-a-Ride, but to ensure availability for the disabled or elderly the general public may only reserve the ride on the day of the requested ride. NOTE: The Dial-a-Ride bus is a dedicated service bus and is not part of the regular fixed-route system.

Bike-n-Ride

Bike racks are available on all Atomic City Transit buses. Please tell the driver before you place you bike on the rack that you have a bike. You must be able to place the bike on the rack yourself, as the driver will not exit the bus to assist you. The bike must fit on the rack. As you exit the bus, please remind the driver that you have a bike to pick up from the rack.

Accessibility

All Dial-a-Ride vehicles are now equipped with wheelchair lifts. All new fixed route vehicles are equipped with wheelchair lifts; however, some of the older vehicles that are used as spares do not have lifts. If you need a wheelchair lift on a regular fixed route, please call dispatch at 661-RIDE. As equipment is replaced, all new equipment will be wheelchair equipped.
