Bear Camp (Tuesday, June 1 - Friday, August 13, 2010)

Registration:  Saturday, April 17, 2010 - 7:00 AM 
At the Larry R. Walkup Aquatic Center (2760 Canyon Road).  Registration is done on a first come / first serve basis.

 

Bear Camp's Mission is to "provide participants with a safe, quality experience which awakens new interests, promotes new skills, creates cultural awareness, and forges new freindships."  Bear Camp does this by offering crafts, games, hiking, field trips and swimming.

Bear Camp counselors are one of the camp's chief strengths!  Great effort goes into the hiring and training of camp counselors who are capable, attentive, fun, and creative.  A Camp Coordinator, an Assistant Camp Coordinator, and nine camp counselors staff Bear Camp.  That is a staff-to-child ratio of 9:1!  Camp staff is certified in First Aid and CPR, and all have completed background checks.

DATES:    June 1 to August 13, 2010 (11 Weeks)

FEES:      1st Child: $130.00 / Week      Each Additional Child: $120.00 / Week

Counselor in Training (CIT):

The CIT program is for youth ages 12-15 who are interested in learning about leadership and working with children!  Five teenagers are selected through an application process to experience the fun, stress and rewards of camp as they assist the camp counselors.  CITs participate in the planning and implementation of weekly activities.

**Youth apply to become a CIT.  While every applicant is interviewed, only five applicants are selected.**

FEES:       $85.00 / Week       

If a family is enrolling a child in Bear Camp and the CIT program they pay the higher fee for Bear Camp then receive the additional child discount for the CIT program.

Financial Aid:

FINANCIAL AID is available for all Recreation programs.  Funds are limited.  Fill out the application below and return it to Randy Smith, Division Manager at the Recreation Division Offices.  Turn in forms at least one week prior to registering for programs.
