Ordinance 596
On Tuesday, December 20th, 2011, the County Council introduced Ordinance 596 to execute the Ground Lease and Developer Agreement with North American Development Group (NADG) for the Trinity Site Revitalization Project, a mixed-use project featuring a retail anchor store (Smith’s Marketplace) and other retail/commercial options. The project site is vacant County/Schools land located across from Mari Mac Plaza on Trinity Drive. A copy of Ordinance 596 and a Summary of Key Terms is available under TSRP Documents/Lease Agreements (right column) and was subject to public review through January 24, 2012. All public comments received by the Jan. 24 deadline will be copied and included in the agenda documents for the Feb. 1 special meeting with the County Council and the School Board. The public can still give comments directly to the Council or School Board after January 24, or, appear at the Feb. 1 meeting and give verbal comments during the public hearing. The Council and School Board are expected to make a final decision during the public hearing on February 1st.
The Trinity Site Revitalization Project is one of the County’s top economic goals, intended to promote economic diversity, increase jobs, and bring additional shopping opportunities and amenities to the Los Alamos community. The Los Alamos Public Schools will benefit from income derived from the lease on the land, which they can then use for their operating budgets.
Although the public comment period about the Ordinance officially closed after the Public Hearing on February 2, the Comments link below is still active until further notice. General comments about the project are still being sent to the Trinity Site Revitalization Project Advisory Committee.
