Updates

The eastern side of Oppenheimer has re-opened in the last week.

Exterior signage has been ordered. Landscaping and contractor completion of any final close out items to wrap up construction are underway.

Project Description:

The Justice Center was built within a budget of $20,188,000. It was designed for meeting the requirements of County Resolution 06-18 for environmental sustainability. It meets the standards of a LEED 2.2 “Silver” rating.

The Justice Center includes:

New Jail

Most of the single-story new addition on the western side of the property (on the Oppenheimer Drive side) was built for the housing of prisoners and detention support functions. New code compliant jail cells and detention support facilities were constructed. The design allowed for jail cell and day room areas to be expanded if needed - a second story could be added.

Renovation of the existing Police-Jail building

The existing single-story Police-Jail building was entirely gutted. New mechanical, plumbing, electrical, data and IT functions were added. Most of the Police administrative functions were placed in the renovated space. The Sheriff's office is located in this building. The two additions were attached to the west and east sides of the existing building.

New Courthouse

The Municipal Court, Municipal Clerk and administrative functions are located on the first floor, along with a Hearing Room. The Magistrate and District Courts, as well as the court clerk and administrative functions, are located on the second floor.

Contractor: HB Construction Inc. (Albuquerque, NM)
