DOE Land Transfer Parcel A-6 is the County's land (4.18 acres) located on the south side of NM502 near the entrance to the Los Alamos Airport.
On January 8, 2008 the County issued a Request for Interest (RFI) for developers to respond with suggestions on how to use the land, which is zoned light industrial use (M-1). The RFI closed February 29. Two proposals were received. One was responsive. It was evaluated by a selection committee , with the goal to take the recommendation of a developer to the Council in June 2008. However, upon further review, the committee did not feel there was enough information for an immediate project, and decided not to proceed with the next step.
At this point, the county is considering erecting "land available" signs on the property, to see if any parties might be interested in Parcel A-6. A similar approach for other DOE land transfer parcels is being considered. Details must still be worked out through legal and procurement reviews, but the County would anticipate that proposals from interested parties would be considered on a first-come/first-served basis if this new approach were to be taken.
