The Los Alamos County Council is seeking Letters of Interest from those interested in filling the unexpired term of State Representative Jeannette Wallace, who passed away recently.
The Council, together with the Commissions of Santa Fe and Sandoval Counties, have the responsibility of providing the Governor with the name of a recommended individual for the position. They plan to take action on this matter at a special Council meeting on Tuesday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. in Council Chambers (475 20th Street, Los Alamos). PAC 8 will broadcast the meeting LIVE and stream it at www.pac8.org.
Letters of interest must be received no later than Tuesday, May 10th at noon. The letters and a sworn Affidavit that the candidate meets the necessary qualifications should be submitted to the County Administrator’s Office, ATTN Julie Habiger, 133 Central Pk Square, Los Alamos, NM 87544.

Any individual submitting a Letter of Interest must attend the Council meeting on May 17th and be prepared to respond to questions from Councilors.

I am at least twenty-one years of age.
I desire to be recommended to be considered by the Los Alamos County Council and appointed by the Governor of the State of New Mexico to fill the vacancy for the office of New Mexico State Representative for District 43.
If and when the Governor appoints me to the position of New Mexico State Representative for District 43, I will be eligible and legally qualified to hold such office in that I will not then hold any office of trust or profit with the state, county or national governments, except notaries public and officers of the militia who receive no salary.
I make the foregoing affidavit under oath, knowing that any false statement herein constitutes a felony punishable under the criminal laws of New Mexico.
