Just For Teens

Wow! We had a fantastic and fast response to the summer junior volunteer program- 15 applications were received in 3 days. Please feel free to fill out a form to be added to our waiting list. We'll fill in empty volunteer slots from the waiting list, so if you're interested make sure you get your forms turned in for a place on it.

Junior Volunteer program summer 2012

It’s time to get your application in to be a volunteer at the library this summer!  We’re so excited to have lots of people interested in helping out. We’re accepting applications from May 1- May 11. If you are 8-17 years old, you can volunteer. The summer program starts May 29 and ends July 27. Youth Services has 15 volunteer slots available and will fill them first come, first served. There are 8 possible shifts to work: Monday-Thursday from 10-12 pm or Monday- Thursday 1-3 pm.  If you’re 8-12 years old, please mark only 1 or 2 shifts. Teenagers may work up to 3 shifts per week, but 1 or 2 is just fine.

Volunteers develop work experience for job resumes and may earn volunteer hours for other programs you're in, like church, or scouts. You can earn t-shirts and snacks.  Some things you may be doing are making copies, preparing craft materials, running errands, decorating, making flyers and other activities that help make our summer reading program successful.  Questions? Email us at ysweb@lacnm.us or call us in Youth Services at 662-8258.

Club Anime is Thursday May 24 at 3:45!  Interested in choosing what we watch at Club Anime each month? You can always email us with suggestions for Club Anime at ysweb@lacnm.us. Video games to check out

Lots of great Wii, Xbox and Playstation games at the library! W00t! Reserve yours now, although we usually have one or two on the shelf to circulate. Let us know what else you'd like to see! ysweb@lacnm.us, subject line "video games". Don't forget to tell us what platform you prefer. The Wii games are rarely on the shelf, so if you want one, stop at any service desk and reserve it. You can also reserve games and other items from home, of course. Have your library card handy!
