Clerical
This employee shall be expected to assist with data entry, alphabetical and numerical filing, retrieval of source documents for internal staff, provide information by telephone or in person on inquires related to the Department. Open and distribute mail for the department. Requires attention to detail.
Shall operate office machines including typewriter, copier, 10 key calculator, computer terminal; answer telephone and deliver messages; and perform other duties as designated by the supervisor.
Assist patrons in basic PC usage, including word processing and Internet
Recreation
This employee shall be expected to assist in concession stand operation and cleaning of the facility.
Responsibilities include assisting in special events, daily functions, concession stand operations, monitoring teens, cleaning of facility, collecting money, performing other duties as designated by the supervisor, and working weekends and nights.
Summer Programs
Employee will be expected to supervise large groups of children. Duties include organizing and implementing games and activities for youth and performing other duties as designated by the supervisor.
Golf Course
This employee will be required to pick, wash range balls; park and clean the golf carts. They will perform general janitorial and cleaning tasks with limited counter duties and perform other duties as designated by the supervisor.
May assist with junior programs and tournament organizations.
Engineering
This employee will be required to input data entry for GIS and scanning building permits and site plans. Shall operate office machines including typewriter, copier, 10 key calculator, computer terminal; answer telephone and deliver messages; and perform other duties as designated by the supervisor.
Assist patrons in basic PC usage, including word processing and Internet.
County Assessor
This employee can be expected to assist with data entry, alphabetical and numerical filing, retrieval of source documents and research of documents filed in the Clerks Office for internal staff, provide information by telephone or in person on inquires related to the Assessor’s Office. Requires attention to detail. Picks up and delivers all department mail. Will be required to assist in collection of field data related to appraisal work.
Operate office machines including typewriter, copier, 10 key calculator, computer terminal, answer telephone and deliver messages; and perform other duties as designated by the supervisor.
Library
Duties of students in the library will vary depending, on which library section they are assigned to. Tasks could include shelving library materials; clerical jobs such as filing, making copies, data entry, making labels and flyers; creating library displays; errands and mail distribution; assisting patrons with computers; preparation for, and assisting with children’s activities, and other duties as designated by the supervisor.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be sixteen (16) years of age or older.
2. Ability to be trained and perform the duties of the position.
3. Applicant will be subject to the successful completion of a thorough background investigation.
4. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
5. Requires timeliness, dependability and honesty.
6. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the supervisor, other employees and the general public.
7. Ability to communicate and interact in a pleasant and positive manner with the public and other employees.
8. Ability to follow safety rules and regulations and observe safety precautions.
9. Ability to use tools and equipment needed to perform duties.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Typing Skills and strong computer skills.
2. Attention to detail and good organization skills.
3. Ability to stay on task and desire to work.
Recreation – Ice Rink
1. Ability to work October through March.
Recreation - Bear Camp
1. Ability to work an eight (8) hour shift Monday through Friday and occasional evenings.
2. Ability to work June through August.
3. Experience working with children.
Recreation – Golf Course
1. Must have strong customer service skills and a willingness to do what it takes to ensure the job gets done
Library
1. Knowledge of and experience with Dewey decimal system.
2. Familiar with general library practices.
3. Detail oriented and ability to work independently.
4. Knowledge of computer applications and data entry.
5. Experience in working with children.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Requires evenings, weekends, holidays, and occasionally on short notice.
Los Alamos County is a smoke-free work environment.
Office & Library
Work is performed in an office, or library with working hours subject to change as needed.
Field
Work is performed in the field with constant exposure to unfavorable working conditions with working hours subject to change as needed.
Library
Work will normally be performed in a smoke free office setting with ten (10) hours per week to include daytime, evenings, and weekends and to last through the school years and summers.
