IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT ONLINE UTILITY BILL PAYMENTS!
(June 29th, 2018)

Due to the launch of the County's new Enterprise Resource Planning software, the Los Alamos DPU App is currently inactive, including the bill pay option. Staff is working through a conversion of the App so that it points correctly to the new billing software while maintaining history from the previous software.

We apologize for any inconvenience and assure you we are working hard to complete this conversion as quickly and seamlessly as possible.  We anticipate this conversion to be complete by the end of August 2018.

In the meantime, you can make payments online with your credit card through the Paymentus portal or over the phone.

This does not affect any recurring electronic payments that you may have already set up, such as ACH payments.

TEMPORARY ELECTRONIC PAYMENT METHODS

You must have your Account # and Customer ID, which you may not already know.

Contact the Customer Care Center to Get Your Account #  and Customer ID:  customercare@lacnm.us or call 505-662-8333.

BUDGET BILLING

The Budget Billing program establishes an equal monthly utility payment, creating budgetary control for DPU customers. The only requirements are that the account balance is zero when joining the program and that the customer has lived in the same place for at least twelve months. The Budget Billing year starts in August and settles up in July.

When joining Budget Billing, the monthly payment is determined by totaling the previous year’s bills and dividing that total by 11. The resulting average amount will be billed on the August through June bills. Payments must be made on or before the due date shown on each month’s bill or the account will fall out of the Budget Billing program.

In July the utility bill reflects a settlement amount, indicating overpayment or underpayment throughout the Budget Billing year. Budget Billing members only pay for the services and commodities used during the Budget Billing year. If there is underpayment, the settlement amount due will show on the July bill. If there is overpayment, the settlement amount credit will show on the July bill and the DPU will send you a check for that amount.

To sign up for Budget Billing contact your Customer Care Center representative.

UTILITIES ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

The purpose of the UAP is to provide assistance to low income customers of the Utility during the months of October through March, or year-round for Senior Citizens over age 65. Funding is provided voluntarily from customers. To qualify for monthly assistance, the household income of the applicant must be below 50% of the median household income for the Santa Fe Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), which includes both Santa Fe and Los Alamos counties. The Department will verify income levels by requesting either copies of tax returns or pay stub.
