On February 21, 2019, the Environmental Sustainability (ESB) approved the formation of the Save As You Throw (SAYT) Research Subcommittee with a 6-0 vote. The purpose of the SAYT Research Subcommittee was to research tiered rate structures for Los Alamos County residential solid waste services, gather public input regarding a tiered rate structure and provide a recommendation to the Environmental Sustainability Board. Los Alamos County Council approved the creation of this SAYT Research subcommittee on April 2, 2019.
On July 16, 2020, the Environmental Sustainability Board moved to accept the findings of the Save As You Throw Research Subcommittee as presented in the SAYT Final Report and asked staff to forward the Board’s decision to County Council.
