Environmental Services (Eco Station)

The Environmental Services Division provides solid waste and recycling services to Los Alamos County residents, and coordinates the newly formed Environmental Sustainability Initiative. The name of this division was changed from Solid Waste to Environmental Services in June 2008 to mirror the division’s new responsibility of spearheading the counties sustainability initiative. With this new responsibility also came a new facility with the opening of the Eco Station in March 2009, a LEED certified green building. The Eco Station consists of the solid waste transfer station and is located at the old Landfill.

Located in White Rock in Overlook Park.

Winter Hours (Oct 2 - Apr 30): Fri-Tue 8:00 am to noon, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Brush and Bulk Item Pickup Update
Brush and Bulk Item collection has concluded in Los Alamos town site. Disposal of any material remaining at the curb in the town site is the responsibility of the home owner. This weekend (April 28th and 29th) there is free disposal at the County Eco Station in order to help residents beautify the community and prepare for wildfire season. Also, a special pickup can be arranged at a charge of $65 per hour by calling 662-8163.

We have begun collection in White Rock, but are still running over a week behind schedule. All material for pickup should already be placed out at the curb.

Free Mulch at Eco Station
Mulch is now available at the Eco Station for pick up at no charge. If you will need assistance with loading you must come between the hours of 8 a.m. and 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. For more info call 662-8163.
