Express building permits may be used for these projects:

commercial and residential re-roofs;
residential interior remodels;
residential window replacement;
commercial and residential stucco and siding;
residential stoves;
residential porches and carports;
residential large storage sheds (over 120 sq. ft.)/ detached garages;
residential uncovered decks; and
residential covered decks, patio/deck unheated enclosures, unheated sunrooms.

All building permit plans must meet the 2006 International Codes and the Incorporated County of Los Alamos Code.

Two sets of the building plan and the site plan must be provided for plan review. You will get one set of the plans back when you pick up your express building permit.

We will call you when your express building permit is ready. Most residential and commercial express permits take five business days to process.

Please don't start construction before obtaining your permit or you will pay a double permit fee and may risk pulling out some of your work for inspection purposes.
