To locate, identify and appraise all taxable property in accordance with the New Mexico State Property Tax Code and Administrative Procedures, while maintaining current and up-to-date information on the ownership and characteristics of property; and to prepare and certify the assessment roll and individual property assessments in accordance with state law.
Goals
The goal of the Assessor’s Office is to provide a well-managed office by performing regular reappraisals, including physical inspections, using computer assisted mass appraisal techniques, in accordance with the New Mexico State Laws, that will serve the public with expert, qualified staff that will result in:

Fair and equitable assessment of the taxpayer’s real and personal property.

A well maintained tax base upon which local government can base tax levies.

Adherence with the requirements of the State of New Mexico for level of assessment by constant market analysis.
