Los Alamos County is responsible for managing operations and maintenance activities at the Los Alamos Airport.
The airport was transferred from the Department of Energy to the County on Oct. 30, 2008, during a special ceremony honoring U.S. Senator Pete Domenci, who was instrumental in establishing the land transfer process over 10 years ago that eventually led to the transfer of the airport and surrounding land. A plaque signifying the date of this historic event is mounted in the airport terminal.
